Postdoctoral Students

Marcus Alvarez, PhD

Postdoctoral Scholar, Human Genetics

MAlvarez@mednet.ucla.edu

Research interest:

I am interested in studying how adipose and liver tissue changes occur at the transcriptional level in cardiometabolic disorders. My work involves integrating bulk and single cell RNA sequencing methods to profile cell type composition and gene expression changes in tissues.

Yash Vinod Bhagat, M.D.

Postdoctoral Scholar, Human Genetics

yashvinodbhagat@gmail.com

Research interest:

The objective of his project is the identification of secreted signals that modulate adipose-liver cross-talk in the setting of obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease using single cell RNA-sequencing and exosome sequencing techniques. Additionally, his other projects involve the molecular follow-up of Mexican-specific BMI, cholesterol, and TG GWAS variants using bulk RNA-sequencing and molecular assays, such as electrophoretic mobility shift assays, luciferase assays, and promoter capture Hi-C sequencing.
